DEATH-SOUL EATER

This version of death is cartoonish and not the form most people expect when it comes to a physical representation of death. His form makes him seem like a childish figure due to his blocky structure. This shows that death is not something that is feared because it is so simple, this is reflected by this deaths character, He is a teacher of a school who is clumsy and laid back, this is supported by his simple look. The thing that works with this character is that the simplicity of deaths look as well as the two colours used give you the idea that this character is simple while the skull mask gives you the idea that he is death. What doesn't work is he will blend in if there is a black background because his body doesn't have definition 

RUYK-DEATHNOTE

This character is the harbinger of death, in his world death is the form death takes. He has humanoid features and structure, His eyes are bulging and his mouth is wide and he has sharp teeth, this makes him look creepy and kind of like a shark. This compliments his personality of a dark sneaky backstabber watching people suffer. His character is very different from the death above and is the darker side of fantasy.

Grimm Reaper

This is the western view of death, it comes in the form of the Grimm Reaper. The grim reapers form slightly differs in each interpretation since it is so old but the fundamentals are like the image above. The costume is a black hooded robe and he wields a scythe, the wings are black to show that they are a fallen angel and the scythe is a farmers tool used to gather crops, this suits the title " harvester of souls" The reason the face is covered is because we don't know what our end will look like. The traits of death can only be told by their nature which seems to be grim and serious, This is due to the colours used and the shades of grey that are associated with those emotions. 

DEATH-DARKSIDERS

This version of death is a warrior who brings death and becomes stronger with souls, unlike the other versions of death his responsibility is not to ferry the dead and he is more violent and active. Death is the most human looking of all the previous Deaths and his weapon is different. he comes across as more serious and angry due to the way he is standing and the shapes in his clothing are sharper. What works? He dose look cool and scary. What doesn't work? he dosent fit the whole image of death very well because you dont get the same feeling as you do from looking at the others. 

OVERVIEW

All of these versions of death are different in character traits and and in form, the thing that is similar between them is the colour pallet and the humanoid shape. The thing that makes you think this is death are the symbols associated with him such as the skull mask, the robes and the scythe. 

The main thing i learned was that an idea can become anything you want, it is all a matter of perception, can be a creepy eerie thing or it can be a jovial clumsy guy or it can be a powerful warrior who ravages the land, it all comes down to creative purpose and context, these drives peoples views.
